QUÉBEC CITY, Aug. 12, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - The most recent data on the evolution of COVID-19 in Quebec show 95 new cases, bringing the total number of infected persons to 60,813. In addition, 1 new death was recorded, for a total of 5,709. The number of hospitalizations remained stable compared to the previous days, for a cumulative total of 151. Of these, 20 were in intensive care, a decrease of 1. 13,241 tests were taken on August 10, for a total of 1,394,431.
In addition to the number of deaths announced today, 11 deaths are added, which occurred more than 7 days ago. As announced by the CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l'Île-de-Montréal, among these deaths, 10 occurred last spring at the private seniors' residence Place Kensington. These could not be registered due to a delay in the transmission of data. This adjustment brings the total of COVID-19 deaths at Place Kensington to 19 residents. The ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux is working to ensure that this does not happen again. Furthermore, the residence no longer has active cases and the situation is now under control.

A reminder concerning public health instructions
To limit to the utmost the virus' spread, it is important to:
- frequently wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water, especially when you come in from outside;
- use alcohol-based disinfectant on your hands if soap and water are unavailable;
- for any gathering in a private outdoor or indoor place, respect the maximum of 10 people. It is strongly recommended that these people come from a maximum of 3 different households.
- limit your travel as much as possible.
For people aged 12 and over, wearing a face covering is now mandatory in most enclosed and partially enclosed public places and on public transit. This obligation will apply to people aged 10 and over starting August 24.
