COVID-19 Pandemic - The government presents its daily update

QUÉBEC CITY, Jan. 19, 2023 /CNW Telbec/ - The most recent data on the evolution of COVID-19, in the last 24 hours, in Québec show:

• 573 new cases, bringing the total number of people infected to 1,297,408*;
• 15 new deaths, for a total of 17,846 deaths, i.e.;
• 1 death in the last 24 hours,
• 10 deaths that occurred between two and seven days ago,
• 4 deaths that occurred more than seven days ago;

NOTE: As death removals are not shown in the data above, the number of death additions may exceed the number of new deaths for the day.

• 2,182 health care workers absent for COVID-related reasons (preventive withdrawal, isolation, awaiting results, etc.);
• 1,819 hospitalizations, including 594 due to COVID-19, for a decrease of 40 compared to the previous day;
• 106 new entries,
• 146 new discharges;
• 48 people in intensive care, including 26 due to COVID-19, for a decrease of 4 compared to the previous day;
• 5 new entries,
• 9 new discharges;
• 9,155 samples conducted on January 17;
• 322,046 self-declared rapid tests so far, including 271,642 positive: 42 declared for yesterday, including 35 positive.

*Note that the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centres is restricted to priority clienteles.

Vaccination

• 4,712 doses administered are added, for a cumulative total of 22,846,590 doses received by Quebecers.

To limit the spread of the coronavirus as much as possible, it is important to follow basic preventive measures such as hand washing, physical distancing, wearing a face covering and following the instructions in effect.
