COVID-19 Pandemic - The government presents its daily update

QUÉBEC CITY, Feb. 22, 2023 /CNW/ - The most recent data on the evolution of COVID-19, in the last 24 hours, in Québec show:

• 552 new cases, bringing the total number of people infected to 1,313,543*;
• 5 new deaths, for a total of 18,078 deaths, i.e.;
• 0 death in the last 24 hours,
• 4 deaths that occurred between two and seven days ago,
• 1 death that occurred more than seven days ago;
  NOTE: As death removals are not shown in the data above, the number of death additions may exceed the number of new deaths for the day.

• 1,930 health care workers absent for COVID-related reasons (preventive withdrawal, isolation, awaiting results, etc.);
• 1,324 hospitalizations, including 479 due to COVID-19, for an increase of 33 compared to the previous day;
• 108 new entries,
• 75 new discharges;
• 33 people in intensive care, including 20 due to COVID-19, for a decrease of 1 compared to the previous day;
• 6 new entries,
• 7 new discharges;
• 8,074 samples conducted on February 20;
• 324,660 self-declared rapid tests so far, including 273,966 positive: 35 declared for yesterday, including 30 positive.

*Note that the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centres is restricted to priority clienteles.

Vaccination

• 1 928 doses administered are added, for a cumulative total of 22,914,250 doses received by Quebecers.

To limit the spread of the coronavirus as much as possible, it is important to follow basic preventive measures such as hand washing, physical distancing, wearing a face covering and following the instructions in effect.
