CP Grand Prix raises $50,000 for Alberta Children's Hospital
CALGARY, June 19, 2016 /CNW/ - Canadian Pacific (CP) congratulates rider Peter Lutz and Robin de Ponthual for their win this weekend at the CP Grand Prix, helping to contribute to the $50,000 from CP's Clear Rounds for Heart initiative, benefiting the Alberta Children's Hospital.
During today's CP Grand Prix, the final event of Continental week, each clear round netted $10,000 for pediatric cardiac care and research at the Alberta Children's Hospital. CP donated $10,000 for each of the three clear rounds plus the two additional clear rounds during the jump off.
"It is our pleasure to once again partner with Spruce Meadows and the Alberta Children's Hospital to support pediatric cardiac care and research," said Hunter Harrison, CP Chief Executive Officer. "Giving across our network is important to us and the Children's Hospital is a world-class facility based right here in our home province and city. CP also held its annual employee Father's Day Family Day event at Spruce Meadows, which helped to raise an additional $3,000 for Alberta kids. During the CP International in September, 2015, CP raised $155,000 for the hospital, bringing the grand total to $208,000.
"Partnering with CP to help kids in Alberta has been a tremendous experience," said Saifa Koonar, Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation President and CEO. "CP's generous investment in heart health is making a huge difference for children, their families and the community."
The Alberta Children's Hospital is also the charity beneficiary of the CP Women's Open to be held at Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club, August 22-28. CP has committed to raise $1.2 million for the hospital. CP is matching all donations made online between April 1 and August 28, 2016 at www.childrenshospital.ab.ca.
