TORONTO, Dec. 9, 2014 /CNW/ - With exactly two weeks until Festivus, CraveTV™, Canada's new premium TV streaming service, announced today it will celebrate the holiday with the release of all 180 episodes of SEINFELD on Tuesday, Dec. 23. After Canadians gather around the Festivus Pole with their families, they will be able to sit down to watch every single episode of the seminal sitcom on demand, including the famous Festivus episode, "The Strike". Following a landmark deal with Sony Pictures Television, CraveTV has the Canadian exclusive subscription streaming rights for SEINFELD, making it the only service to offer the series to subscribers. Available for just $4/month, CraveTV launches this Thursday, Dec. 11.
In a true Festivus miracle, SEINFELD joins a slate of over 225 hit comedy titles on CraveTV. Named by TV Guide as the greatest television program of all time, SEINFELD ran for nine seasons from 1989 until 1998, when nearly 80 million people watched its series' finale. CraveTV's comedy catalogue qualifies as a Festivus "Feat of Strength," as it comprises nearly 25% of the entire library.

"There is clearly no better way to honour SEINFELD and its fans than for CraveTV to launch the series to subscribers on Festivus," said Mike Cosentino, Senior Vice-President, Programming, Bell Media. "When the traditional airing of grievances is over, subscribers can watch all of the 180 episodes exclusively on CraveTV."
In "The Strike" (Season 9, Episode 10), George's holiday origins are unveiled as Frank Costanza teaches the group about Festivus, a holiday he created to combat the commercialism of the other holidays. "Many Christmases ago, I went to buy a doll for my son," says Frank. "I reached for the last one they had, but so did another man. As I rained blows upon him, I realized there had to be another way." The group heads to the Costanza's for Festivus Dinner and experiences the Airing of Grievances, the Festivus Pole, Feats of Strength, and a Festivus Miracle or two.
About SEINFELD:
An Emmy and Golden Globe winner for Best Comedy Series, SEINFELD is one of the most popular, most award-winning, and longest-running comedy series of all time. Jerry Seinfeld stars as a stand-up comedian whose life in New York City is made even more chaotic by his quirky group of friends who join him in wrestling with life's most perplexing, yet often trivial questions. Often described as "a show about nothing," SEINFELD mines the humour in life's mundane situations like waiting in line, searching for a lost item, or the trials and tribulations of dating. Co-starring are Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Jerry's ex-girlfriend and current platonic pal, Elaine Benes; Jason Alexander as George Costanza, Jerry's neurotic hard-luck best friend; and Michael Richards as Jerry's eccentric neighbour, Kramer. SEINFELD is a Shapiro/West production in association with Castle Rock Entertainment. SEINFELD is distributed by Sony Pictures Television.
