TORONTO, March 1, 2019 /CNW/ - Distributel Communications Limited strongly supports the CRTC's proposed changes to the regulatory framework for wireless services. The CRTC is advocating changes that will fundamentally improve Canada's wireless market through greater affordability, innovation and competition.
"The CRTC's position is great news for Canadian consumers, who pay some of the highest wireless rates in the world. The CRTC is moving in the right direction by pushing for broader choice and more market participants," said Matt Stein, CEO of Distributel. "We will fully support this direction that will allow Distributel to offer the same great experience, choice and value in wireless that we already offer to our Internet, TV and home phone customers."
Distributel agrees with the CRTC's assessment that changes are required to ensure that all Canadians benefit from a robust and competitive mobile wireless market. The current framework is not serving Canadians, it is only benefiting the interests of the largest wireless carriers. Distributel has been a strong supporter of enhanced competition in Canada's wireless market to meet the needs of consumers, businesses and Canadians across the country.
"Canadians should benefit from competition whether they want to make a phone call from their home phone or their cell phone," continued Mr. Stein. "Today is a first step towards achieving a truly competitive wireless market and we look forward to working to achieve this outcome."
