CSA Group Bayern now ready to provide terminal block testing and certification service suitable for terminal blocks exported to North American markets
STRASSKIRCHEN, Germany, March 24, 2015 /CNW/ - CSA Group Bayern, a subsidiary of CSA Group, a global provider of testing and certification services and a leading standards development organization, today announced that it now has the capability to test and certify terminal blocks for the North American market. The laboratory has been accredited to ISO 17025 and can now test and certify terminal blocks for the North American market. CSA Group Bayern can also conduct audits on client programs and witness tests at manufacturers' own test facilities.
Terminal blocks are a key component for electrical control cabinets requiring certification to North America standards for use in that market. Based on different requirements regarding electrical safety compared to the European standards, North American regulators have different requirements than European standards and generally focus on reviewing power inputs which are one of the key areas of focus for terminal blocks.
CSA Group Bayern specializes in environmental testing for automotive, e-vehicles, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), power tools, IT, safety and environmental, home appliances, and other product categories. "The new service ties in very well with our existing capabilities at CSA Group Bayern, and we will tap into our overall experience and expertise in security and environmental testing to better serve our clients," said Dieter Froehlich, Managing Director for CSA Group Bayern. "The tests for terminal blocks are similar to tests we conduct for other standards, now applied to wiring processes." The tests usually consist of five mechanical and environmental tests, including secureness, conditioning, pullout, temperature, dielectric withstand, heat cycling and accelerated aging tests.
Ralf Schunk, Vice President for CSA Group in Europe, added, "We are pleased to be extending our capabilities to the testing and certification of terminal blocks and offering this additional service to our European clients. This marks the next step in our growth in Europe as we add a focus on wiring devices to our expanding business."
