Sinclair named ambassador for RESP providers' Inspired Minds campaign
TORONTO, March 27, 2015 /CNW/ - With the Women's World Cup taking place this summer, it's shaping up to be a big year on and off the field for soccer star Christine Sinclair. CST Consultants (CST) announced today that the national women's team captain and Olympic medallist, is the new ambassador for the CST Inspired Minds campaign, a groundbreaking program that helps families prepare for the future of education and work. The program consists of two elements: Careers 2030 and the Learning Project.
Through Careers 2030 (a digital job fair of the future) and the CST Learning Project (a grassroots competition offering $250,000 worth of education grants to not-for-profits), CST is sparking a national discussion about how students can best prepare for what lies ahead. As a professional athlete and graduate of the University of Portland, Sinclair understands how valuable higher learning can be. She also has an honorary doctorate of laws degree from Simon Fraser University.
"CST has been helping families save for their child's education for more than 54 years. The Inspired Minds initiative is all about giving Canadians a glimpse of the future and starting to think about the formal training and skills students will need to follow their dreams," said Martha Turner, Vice President, Marketing at CST Consultants. "Christine Sinclair is an iconic Canadian who inspires everyone around her and we're thrilled to have her as our program ambassador. As a university graduate, Christine is an excellent role model for students who are starting to plan for their own future success."
In support of the Careers 2030 program, Sinclair has provided her thoughts on the importance of balancing education and sport and also discusses how technology in sports will impact future careers. In addition, she is part of the Learning Project judging panel for the 'Health & Well-being' category and will be selecting two winners of $10,000 each in the competition that launches April 7, 2015.
"I'm proud to partner with CST and help spread the important message behind the Inspired Minds campaign," said Sinclair. "I know first-hand how important it is to continue to invest in your education regardless of the field you're in. I was fortunate enough to pursue my education while continuing to play soccer and I want all Canadians to know that it is possible to balance your passions. My hope is that CST's Inspired Minds will help others discover their own passions through the Learning Project and get Canadian youth excited about their future career possibilities through Careers 2030. The possibilities are endless."
