CTV and Free The Children Announce Three-Year Broadcast Partnership for WE

TORONTO, April 15 /CNW/ - CTV and Free The Children announced today that they will partner for the next three years on WE DAY, the largest youth-empowerment event of its kind. The partnership will see CTV broadcast a WE DAY prime-time special each year for the next three years, which continues a relationship that began four years ago with the very first Me to We Day.
Taking place in three cities this year - Toronto (September 30), Vancouver (October 15) and Montreal (November 12) - WE DAY will reach 36,000 student leaders at the events and millions more through the prime-time special (broadcast details to be announced). CTV and Free The Children revealed today a first look at the entertainers, activists and social issue speakers scheduled to hit the stage at this year's WE DAY, with the goal of empowering youth through music and stories of courage and activism. With more announcements to come, the initial lineup includes:
- Deepak Chopra, award-winning author and physician - Philippe Cousteau, Chief Ocean Correspondent for Animal Planet - Lieutenant-General Roméo Dallaire, Canadian senator and retired general - Rick Hansen, Canadian paraplegic athlete and activist - Hedley, multi-platinum recording artists - K'NAAN, Canadian poet, rapper and musician - Wangari Mathai, Nobel Peace Laureate from Kenya - Jason Mraz, Grammy winner and multi-platinum musician - Martin Sheen, actor and activist - Betty Williams, Nobel Peace Laureate from Northern Ireland
