TORONTO, May 4, 2017 /CNW/ - CTV is bringing the heat with a dynamic 2017 summer schedule anchored by three brand-new series from some of the biggest names in television: WORLD OF DANCE, THE F WORD, and STILL STAR-CROSSED. Summer on CTV also features an all-star showcase of returning favourites including THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, SAVING HOPE, MASTERCHEF, and AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR, along with a one of a kind, crowd-sourced summer event special, CANADA IN A DAY, and the hottest music celebrations including THE 2017 BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS and THE 2017 IHEARTRADIO MUCH MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS.
From the television powerhouse of Shondaland comes STILL STAR-CROSSED (May 29), a new spin on the classic love story of Romeo and Juliet. WORLD OF DANCE (May 30) is a blazing new competition series produced by Jennifer Lopez and hosted by Jenna Dewan Tatum, WORLD OF DANCE features the world's most talented dancers competing for $1 million before a star-studded judging panel of Lopez, Derek Hough, and NE-YO. Based on his Gordon Ramsay's hit U.K. series, each distinctive and fast-paced hour of the appropriately titled THE F WORD (May 31) combines good food and great cooking with Ramsay's passion, energy and humour in a one-of-a-kind live series.
Returning to the CTV schedule are some of Canada's most popular competition series. THE AMAZING RACE CANADA is back to celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary of confederation with a fifth season on July 4. The country's most-watched summer series for four years in a row, this season has all the non-stop, action-packed adventure viewers have grown to love, as the racers travel across Canada and the world in the hopes of being the last team standing. Also back for another season are perennial favourites AMERICAN NINJA WARROR (June 12) and MASTERCHEF (May 31), Additional series rounding out the schedule this summer are HOLLYWOOD GAME NIGHT (June 20) and THE $100,000 PYRAMID (June 25).
There's no shortage of drama in the CTV summer schedule. Summer's most provocative series ZOO returns for a bold third season (June 29) while drama ensues as one of Canada's most-watched and beloved series, SAVING HOPE (June 8), wraps up its stellar five-season run with the series' remaining nine episodes, which picks up in the aftermath of the series' emotional spring finale.
CTV's lineup of special events and award shows is loaded with excitement, nostalgia and unforgettable moments. On May 24, relive the iconic love story of Baby Houseman and Johnny Castle in a star-studded reinvention of DIRTY DANCING, starring Debra Messing, Bruce Greenwood, Abigail Breslin, and Colt Prattes. Viewers can sing along for the second year in a row with James Corden and his famous friends when the Emmy Award®-winning THE LATE LATE SHOW CARPOOL KARAOKE PRIMETIME SPECIAL premieres May 22. This hotly anticipated drama from Shonda Rhimes picks up where the famous story of Romeo and Juliet ends, charting the treachery, palace intrigue and ill-fated romances of the Montagues and Capulets in the wake of the young lovers' tragic fate. The series is based on the book Still Star-Crossed by Melinda Taub. Get ready for food, family, and fun with Gordon Ramsay's bold, new live series, THE F WORD. Based on the hit U.K. series, each distinctive and fast-paced hour combines good food and great cooking with Ramsay's passion, energy, and humour in a one-of-a-kind live series. During each episode, teams of foodie families and friends battle it out in a high-stakes cook-off, hoping to impress Ramsay, as well as celebrities, VIPs and other dinner guests. As the live battle heats up, the show features Ramsay hosting highly stylized cooking demos and weekly out-of-the-kitchen adventures with fans, foodies, and surprise guests.

SAVING HOPE (Season 5) – The Final Season

The fifth and final season of SAVING HOPE returns with all nine new episodes following its emotional spring finale, which picks up in the wake of a personal trauma that devastated Dr. Alex Reid (Erica Durance), who busies herself with work to distract her from her grief. Plus, Dr. Maggie Lin's (Julia Taylor Ross) ex-girlfriend Dr. Sydney Katz (Stacey Farber, DEGRASSI: THE NEXT GENERATION) comes back into town with some surprising news for Maggie. Meanwhile, the return of "The Great" Randal Crane (Peter Keleghan, MURDOCH MYSTERIES) in the spring finale, delivered a dire warning about Charlie's (Michael Shanks) "special gift" and its heavy cost if he doesn't rid himself of it – leaving viewers wondering whether Alex and Charlie will finally work out their differences on their way to happily ever after…or are they indeed cursed? ZOO (Season 3)

ZOO, based on the #1 bestselling novel by James Patterson, is a global thriller about a wave of violent animal attacks against humans sweeping the planet.
