TORONTO, Aug. 30, 2016 /CNW/ - Canada's most-watched television network confirmed today its fall premiere dates, as the most highly anticipated and big-buzz series of the season land on CTV. THE 68TH PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS (Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. ET exclusively on CTV) kicks off of the 2016/2017 television season with four powerful new dramas arriving in Premiere Week (Sept. 19-23) to strengthen CTV's #1 schedule.
The refreshingly honest and smartly provocative new relationship dramedy THIS IS US – whose record-breaking trailer topped 80 million views online – debuts Tuesday, Sept. 20 in the 10 p.m. ET/PT time period for two weeks, before settling into its regular 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot, beginning Oct. 11 on CTV; the political conspiracy thriller DESIGNATED SURVIVOR, starring Kiefer Sutherland, airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, beginning Sept. 21; criminal law and media collide in NOTORIOUS, airing Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, beginning Sept. 22 and psychological thriller THE EXORCIST, based on the 1973 horror film, airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, beginning Sept. 23.
The premieres continue in October with the political legal drama CONVICTION, starring Hayley Atwell, airing Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, beginning Oct. 3. Plus, hilarity ensues with the new family comedy AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE, airing Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, beginning Oct. 15.
Meanwhile, last season's top new series BLINDSPOT (Sept. 14) and QUANTICO (Sept. 25) return on CTV, along with returning Top 20 hits and fan favourites including THE BIG BANG THEORY (Sept. 19), LUCIFER (Sept. 19), and HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER (Sept. 22). The sophomore season of SECRETS AND LIES (Sept. 25) also returns to CTV; while an all new season of THE VOICE (Sept. 19), with Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys joining the judges panel, and CODE BLACK (Sept. 28) return on CTV Two.
Plus, GOTHAM (Sept. 19), MARVEL's AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. (Sept. 20) and THE FLASH (Oct. 4) continue their heroic runs on CTV, as Season 5 of ARROW (Oct. 5) and Season 2 of DC's LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (Oct. 13) join the CTV Two schedule.
In advance of CTV's hotly anticipated fall premieres, ETALK delivers an exclusive look at the upcoming series in CTV's BIG FALL PREVIEW airing Friday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and CTV GO. The one-hour special hosted by ETALK Anchor and YOUR MORNING Co-Host Ben Mulroney and ETALK Senior Reporter Devon Soltendieck features exclusive series sneak peeks and interviews with the stars of CTV's new and returning primetime series including Kiefer Sutherland (DESIGNATED SURVIVOR) and Viola Davis (HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER).
