TORONTO, April 3, 2020 /CNW/ - CTV is The Final Answer. Twenty years after its debut, the network announced today it has added the dynamic new version of the Emmy® Award-winning WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE to its spring lineup. The iconic game show returns to CTV on Wednesday, April 8 with a special run of episodes hosted by late-night staple Jimmy Kimmel (JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE!). The smash hit series debuted in January 2000 on CTV and went on to inspire CTV's own version, WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE: CANADIAN EDITION, later that year. In celebration of the return of the series, celebrity competitors will now play for a charity of their choice.
For the first time in the history of the U.S. franchise, celebrities playing on WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE can invite a guest to help them answer questions. It could be a relative, a beloved teacher, or a famed trivia expert – anyone they want – to help them win as much money as they can for the charity of their choice. Additionally, this special run of episodes is introducing a new lifeline, Ask the Host.
"The addition of this timely revival series, as millions of Canadians are looking for an entertaining escape, is a welcome tentpole to the CTV schedule," said Mike Cosentino, President, Content and Programming, Bell Media. "With production already completed, this event series and will inject new episodes throughout the spring television season. We're looking forward to laughing with Jimmy Kimmel and his deep roster of celebrity guest contestants."
