TORONTO, Sept. 11, 2012 /CNW/ - In its new hotly contested 4 p.m. timeslot on CTV, THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW premiered to its biggest audience ever in Canada yesterday with a series-high of 612,000 viewers, up a staggering 56% compared to last season's premiere and 280% more viewers than new timeslot entrant KATIE (Citytv/161,000). The Season 10 premiere was #1 nationally among talk shows with total viewers and all key adult demos and propelled the revamped ANDERSON LIVE at 5 p.m. to double digit growth of 17% compared to last year's premiere on CTV. The two programs powered CTV to claim 8 of the Top 10 daytime talk shows in Canada as the 2012/2013 Season launches.

Head-to-head with the series premiere of KATIE at 4 p.m. in Toronto, THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW reigned supreme with a 1.9 A25-54 rating and a 1.8 A18-49 rating, leading KATIE (0.4 A25-54 and 0.1 A18-49).
