CTV's EMMYS® Broadcast Sparkles With 2.4 Million Viewers

TORONTO, Sept. 24, 2012 /CNW/ - It's a star-studded start for the fall television season as 2.4 million viewers watched the 64th PRIMETIME EMMY® AWARDS last night on CTV. Up 2% over last year with total viewers and up 5% in the key A25-54 demo, the EMMYS was the #1 program of the night with total viewers and with all key demos. Additionally, the EMMYS was the top entertainment program of the day in all metered markets with total viewers, A18-49, and A25-54. In Canada's largest television market, more than one in four Torontonians (26%) watching television last night were tuned in to the broadcast, with up to nearly one in three in the key A18-34 demo (30%). Overall, 8.3 million Canadians watched some or all of the broadcast on CTV.
Last night's EMMYS® ratings success ushers in CTV and CTV Two's highly anticipated fall lineup of exciting new shows and returning fan favourites. The evening's spectacle began with a combined 716,000 viewers catching the live EMMY® RED CARPET pre-show on CTV and CTV Two.
Over on E!, LIVE FROM THE RED CARPET (116,000 total viewers) at 6 p.m. was up 14% with A25-54 (61,000) over last year.
Among this year's EMMY® winners were Jon Cryer of CTV's TWO AND A HALF MEN (Canada's #2 comedy) for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, CTV's THE AMAZING RACE (Canada's #1 reality series) for Outstanding Reality Competition Program, THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART (Canada's #1 late night talk show) for Outstanding Variety Series, and Tom Bergeron for Host, Reality-Competition Program for CTV's DANCING WITH THE STARS (premiering tonight at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV).
