TORONTO, Oct 1 /CNW/ - Following Wednesday night's Performance show, 10 dancers are now left to face another week on CTV's SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA after CLAUDIA Primeau, 26, a Ballroom dancer from Montreal, QC and JONATHAN Arsenault, 26, a Contemporary dancer from Kitchener, ON were eliminated. The Top 10 have survived various dance styles including jazz, jive and hip-hop to contemporary, theatre and afro jazz and range in age from 19 to 25. Representing communities from coast to coast with three from British Columbia, two from Alberta, one from Saskatchewan, three from Ontario, and one from New Brunswick. The Top 10 have now made it through five rounds of eliminations. The winner will dance away with $100,000, and both the winner and runner-up will receive the keys to a brand new Mazda2.
During tonight's live broadcast, host Leah Miller announced the bottom three couples; CHARLENE Hart, 24, from Abbotsford, BC and EDGAR Gilbert-Reyes, 22 from Calgary, AB who performed a spicy Salsa routine; CLAUDIA Primeau, 26, from Montreal, QC and Jonathan Arsenault, 26, from Kitchener, who performed a bumpin' Hip-Hop routine and Nathalie Heath, 23, from Surrey, BC and Sebastian Mersch, 21, from Toronto, ON who performed a groovy Disco routine. After each competitor had the opportunity to dance for their lives, the judges deliberated and announced that CLAUDIA and JONATHAN would be eliminated from the competition, just shy of making the coveted Top 10.
Before the bottom three couples were announced, the Top 12 took to the stage to perform a contemporary group number choreographed by two-time Emmy Award-winning choreographer Mia Michaels. With 13 chairs perfectly aligned on stage, the Top 12 performed individual movements, occasionally connecting with each other. Based on Michaels' personal experience with rejection, the piece was set to the original Broadway cast recording of "Will I?" from Rent.
