Culinary students compete for prestige and prize money on stage at the Restaurants Canada Show
TORONTO, Feb. 25, 2015 /CNW/ - Student teams will compete for top honours in the Restaurant Innovation Competition, March 2 at the Restaurants Canada Show. This annual trade event, the largest of its kind in Canada, is expected to attract 12,000 hospitality industry professionals over three days at the Direct Energy Centre.
Sponsored by Frankie Tomatto's, the Restaurant Innovation Competition challenges student teams from post-secondary hospitality, nutrition and culinary programs to develop new, innovative ideas of value to the restaurant industry, such as new service delivery systems, technology, food preparation and revenue management. The winning team will receive $3,000 in prize money and the opportunity to discuss their idea with a creative agency, financial firm and legal team.
After winning in two semi-final rounds, the top three teams to pitch their ideas are:
- Krista Emery and Heidi Ahrens, Humber College
- Sunny Choi and Jenny Kim, University of Guelph
- Rebecca McIlroy and Chloe Blais, University of Guelph
A panel of judges will adjudicate the live presentations and select the winning team on Monday, March 2 starting at 10:15 a.m.
The Restaurants Canada Show, formerly the CRFA Show, is an annual event for restaurant, bar and catering professionals. Industry delegates can register by Feb. 28 at www.restaurantshow.ca for the early-bird rate of $40 for a three-day pass. Admission is free for Restaurants Canada members.
The show is restricted to industry personnel (19 years of age and older) and accredited media only.
