CUMIS raises $102,465 for United Way of Burlington and Greater Hamilton

BURLINGTON, ON, Jan. 23, 2015 /CNW/ - The CUMIS Group Limited and its employees have raised a total of $102,465 for the United Way of Burlington and Greater Hamilton to support the vital health and social services provided by local United Way member agencies.

Through pledged donations and fundraising events such as contests and raffles CUMIS staff members raised $61,617 during the 2014 United Way campaign. An additional $40,848 was contributed by the company.

Nationally, The Co-operators group of companies, of which CUMIS is a member, raised $613,034 for the United Way. A series of local staff-led campaigns were conducted in offices throughout the country, with both individual donations and corporate contributions directed to local United Way chapters. 

The United Way is the largest non-government funder of social services and the voluntary sector in Canada. Monitoring and meeting the existing and emerging local needs and challenges, the United Way provides vital funding to its member agencies, helping to improve Canadians' quality of life. With funding from local donors like The Co-operators, United Way chapters are able to improve lives and build caring communities by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action.
