CUMIS raises $105,528 for United Way of Burlington and Greater Hamilton

BURLINGTON, ON, March 12, 2014 /CNW/ - The CUMIS Group Limited (CUMIS) and its employees have raised a total of $105,528 for the United Way of Burlington and Greater Hamilton to support the vital health and social services provided by United Way member agencies.

CUMIS staff members raised $62,058 through pledged donations and fundraising events such as contests and raffles throughout the 2013 United Way campaign. The company contributed an additional $43,470.

Nationally, The Co-operators group of companies, of which CUMIS is a member, raised $686,288 for the United Way. A series of local staff-led campaigns were conducted in offices throughout the country, with both individual donations and corporate contributions directed to local United Way chapters.

The United Way is the largest non-government funder of social services and the voluntary sector in Canada. Based on local needs and challenges, the United Way provides vital funding to its member agencies, helping to improve Canadians' quality of life. With funding from local donors like The Co-operators, United Way chapters in Canada are able to improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action.
