MONTRÉAL, May 30, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - CUPE 301, the local union for Montreal Blue Collar workers, has been placed under the administration of CUPE National. A National Administrator has been appointed to oversee the day-to-day operations of the local and assume the duties of local officers, until further notice.
Reporting to CUPE's National President and National Executive Board, the Administrator will help resolve serious issues with the operation of the local, and ensure they are addressed while maintaining full service and representation to the members of CUPE 301. Once this process is complete, a new executive will be elected and daily operations will be turned back over to CUPE 301.
Under CUPE's Constitution, the National President can place a local temporarily under administration to protect the interests of the members of the local. CUPE will work with the members of the local to ensure effective and efficient representation of all members.
There will be no further comment on the matter at this time.
