Daily Bread's Holiday Drive makes it to $1 million and 1 million pounds

TORONTO , Jan. 5 /CNW/ - Thanks to a generous increase in donations over the past few weeks, Daily Bread Food Bank has met its Holiday Drive goals of $1 million and 1 million pounds.

"At the beginning of December, donations were slow and I really wasn't sure whether we were going to make it," said Gail Nyberg , executive director of Daily Bread Food Bank. However, as the holidays approached donations continued to increase. In the end, $1.3 million and 1.1 million pounds of food were donated. "Every can of food and every dollar donated over this drive will help make sure that food gets to those who need it over the winter months", said Nyberg. "I want to thank everyone who made a donation - your support is invaluable in our fight against hunger."
