Daily Bread's Spring Drive to stock shelves
TORONTO, April 2, 2014 /CNW/ - Daily Bread is looking to stock its shelves this Spring Drive. The Spring Drive kicks off on April 2 and runs until April 26 with goals of $225,000 and 225,000 pounds of nutritious food.
"The Spring Drive is one of most important drives, because it keeps food banks stocked throughout the summer," says Gail Nyberg, Daily Bread's Executive Director. "In the past few weeks, some of our member agencies have shut their doors early because there simply isn't enough food to meet demand. We need to fill those shelves, so nobody is ever turned away. And we need your help to do it."
Most needed food items include: pasta, dried/canned beans or lentils, rice, canned fruit and vegetables, baby formula and food, tomato sauce, peanut butter, canned tuna/meat and powdered milk. Every dollar donated means Daily Bread can provide $5 worth of food.
Food donations can be dropped off at any local fire hall or participating grocery store. Financial donations can be made easily and securely online at www.dailybread.ca or by mailing a cheque to Daily Bread Food Bank, 191 New Toronto St., Toronto, Ontario, M8V 2E7.
