Canadians submitted more than 8,300 Caesar names, and Dan Levy chose one that captured his version of Canada's Cocktail better than the rest
TORONTO, May 17, 2017 /CNW/ - The glass is rimmed, the Clamato is poured and the celery stalk cut. Canadian actor, producer and writer Dan Levy has announced the name of the Official Caesar of National Caesar Day 2017 is Don't Go Bacon My Heart!
Recommended by Kasandra Parke-Wilson from Narol, Manitoba, Levy chose Kasandra's suggestion over the 8,300 other names submitted by Canadians from coast-to-coast in an effort to have Caesars with Levy on National Caesar Day.
When asked why he chose Don't Go Bacon My Heart, Levy responded: "listen, I like bacon. I like puns. And I never claimed to have discerning taste. I'm very much looking forward to drinking a few Caesars and celebrating National Caesar Day with Kasandra on May 18th!"
The Don't Go Bacon My Heart consists of several savoury ingredients including green olive juice, horseradish, truffle salt, and Mott's Clamato Extra Spicy and Pickled Bean topped with a full brunch as a garnish. To see Levy make the Don't Go Bacon My Heart, visit www.CaesarsWithDan.ca
Kasandra and a guest will be flying to Toronto to meet Levy and toast Canada's Cocktail during National Caesar Day on May 18th – a holiday created by Caesar enthusiasts like Levy and Kasandra. With Canada Day right around the corner, Levy hopes Canadians will try his 2017 Caesar recipe at home and encourage local bartenders to make it too.
In 2016, Canadians consumed more than 398 million* Caesars, that's more than one million Caesars per day. Invented in Canada in 1969, the Caesar has been established as the nation's most popular cocktail and is treasured as a distinctively Canadian drink. That same year, Mott's Clamato was introduced in Canada, which is now the essential ingredient and taste in an authentic Caesar.
It's no surprise that National Caesar Day festivities grow every year for this holiday which falls on the Thursday before the Victoria Day long weekend. For a listing of local events, bars and restaurants serving Caesars and a wide selection of recipes visit the home of the Caesar: MottsClamato.ca
