MONTREAL, Jan. 20, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (MAC) is delighted to present the latest project by Daniel Barrow, an accomplished visual artist as well as a master storyteller whose images and words have the power to enchant. The artist will perform his work The Thief of Mirrors at the MAC in English this coming February 12 and 19 and, for the first time, in French, on February 26 and March 5, in Beverley Webster Rolph Hall.
Barrow has been working for the past four years on the conception and production of The Thief of Mirrors. Combining voices and images, projections, manipulations and live monologues, his performance will offer audiences a surprising, original storytelling experience that conjures up the early days of cinema. Running the range from the fantastic to the tragic, from irony to poetry, Barrow's tales elicit a sense of wonder as they unfold to the sound of his remarkably steady voice.
The 2010 winner of the Sobey Art Award, Daniel Barrow was cited by the jury for the "unique, self-sustaining fictional world" he has created since 1993. Born in Winnipeg, he has lived in Montréal since 2009.
