MONTRÉAL, Nov. 27, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Frédéric Abergel, President and CEO of the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux du Nord-de-l'Île-de-Montréal (CIUSSS NIM), is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Sinnett, Ph. D., to the position of Director of Research for the establishment. He is expected to assume his new position on January 14, 2019.
Daniel Sinnett is a renowned researcher in the field of pediatric genetics/genomics and oncology whose research has been the subject of close to 200 publications. With a Doctorate in Biochemistry from Université de Montréal and a post-doctoral degree in Molecular Genetics from Harvard Medical School, Dr. Sinnett is a Full Professor in the Pediatrics Department at Université de Montréal and holds the François-Karl Viau Research Chair in Pediatric Oncogenomics at CHU Sainte-Justine. Dr. Sinnett is involved in a number of major Canadian initiatives in his field, most notably those supported by the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR), Genome Canada and the Terry Fox Research Institute. He previously held the position of Assistant Director at the CHU Sainte-Justine Research Centre.
As part of his new duties, Dr. Sinnett will oversee research activities at CIUSSS NIM, while actively pursuing the development of this intersectoral centre that integrates biomedical, social and mental health research related to children and teens.
According to Dr. Sinnett: "I'm delighted to be joining the team at CIUSSS du Nord-de-l'Île-de-Montréal! My experience as a researcher and manager has enabled me to develop a fully integrated research vision, where all types of research, including clinical, fundamental, translational and psychosocial, come together in response to questions that focus on the patient and the public. I hope my work at the CIUSSS du Nord-de-l'Île-de-Montréal will contribute to the development and rapid transfer of new knowledge that is useful for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and quality of life for our children, teens and adults."
