Daniel Turp Denounces Canada's Withdrawal From Kyoto - Says It Violates the Principles of Democracy, Rule of Law and Separation of State Powers Français
MONTREAL, Jan. 13, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - A notice of application for judicial review was filed in the Federal Court of Canada today to contest the legality of Canada's withdrawal from the Kyoto Protocol. This legal action was launched by law professor Daniel Turp of the Université de Montréal.
The Federal Court is being asked to declare that Canada's withdrawal is in violation of the Kyoto Implementation Act. The court is also being asked to declare that the withdrawal contravenes the principle of democracy, the rule of law and the separation of the executive power of the state from its legistative power.
