CLARINGTON, ON, Oct. 22, 2018 /CNW/ - Ontario Power Generation (OPG) will be holding its annual Darlington Refurbishment Open House on Saturday, Oct. 27. The purpose of this event is to provide the public with an opportunity to learn more about Darlington Refurbishment, Canada's largest clean energy project.

Project Milestones
Significant milestones the Darlington Refurbishment project has met to date:
- Shut-down the Unit 2 reactor (Oct. 2016)
- Defuelled the Unit 2 reactor (Jan. 2017)
- Isolated the Unit 2 reactor from the station (Apr. 2017)
- Opened Unit 2 airlocks for the first time since the station was built (May 2017)
- Removed all 960 feeder pipes from the Unit 2 reactor (Sept. 2017)
- Removed all 960 end fittings from the Unit 2 reactor (Jan. 2018)
- Provincial government green lights Unit 3 refurbishment (Feb. 2018)
- Removed all 480 pressure tubes from the Unit 2 reactor (Mar. 2018)
- Removed all 480 calandria tubes from the Unit 2 reactor (May 2018)
