Dave Lisle of the Technical Standards and Safety Authority to receive Fire Marshal's Award for Excellence in Fire Safety

TORONTO, June 19, 2014 /CNW/ - Dave Lisle, Director of Research and Education with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) received a Fire Marshal's Award for Excellence in Fire Safety at a ceremony today in Toronto. The annual Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council's Fire Safety Awards recognize outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention in Ontario.

In his role at TSSA, Lisle is responsible for leading the organization's innovative research in the field of user behaviour to understand and modify behaviour as a way to enhance public safety in Ontario.

For the past 10 years, Lisle has worked with the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council. His expertise in research, education and the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning has made him an invaluable asset on numerous Council committees and projects. Lisle is currently a director on the Council Board and a member of the partnership and resource committee. On behalf of the Council he has presented at various fire service conferences and participated in Learn and Share sessions. He recently presented the results of his research on carbon monoxide education strategies to 140 Toronto fire service inspectors and public educators as part of a Council pilot outreach.

As a long-time sponsor of the Council, TSSA has contributed more than $1.5 million dollars, as well as countless staff hours in support of campaigns, resource production and communications.
