Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Canada and Wendy's team up to promote adoption awareness
Video and thisisthestoryofi.com website to launch during Wendy's annual Father's day Frosty Weekend with $1 from each Frosty going to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption
OAKVILLE, ON, June 14, 2013 /CNW/ - In their ongoing efforts to spread awareness and to remind Canadians of the 30,000 children in foster care who are waiting to find permanent, loving families, Wendy's restaurants of Canada unveiled a new video today entitled, The Story of I (thisisthestoryofi.com). The video depicts the feelings and experiences of children who are awaiting adoption and the joy they feel when their wish comes true. The goal of the video and new website is to increase the number of adoptions from Canada's foster care system.
On June 15- 16, Wendy's restaurants of Canada will host their annual Father's Day Frosty Weekend, to coincide with the launch. During this time, $1 from each Frosty purchased in stores across Canada will be donated to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, which funds seven adoption recruiters in Canada, and 169 across North America. Canadians can also donate to the Foundation by purchasing a pin-up in stores for $1.
"We believe that all children, and particularly vulnerable and at-risk children, must be a priority across political, economic, cultural and business entities," says Paul Hilder, Sr Vice President, Wendy's Restaurants of Canada. "The issue of adoption may appear overwhelmingly unsolvable but can be resolved when addressed in a strategic, deliberate and creative manner. We believe The Story of I, coupled with Father's Day Frosty Weekend promotion, will help shine a spotlight on this important issue and could lead to more children finding families to make their own."
The work was developed with the support of pro-bono services from MacLaren McCann, Cadux, Grayson Matthews Music & Sound, and The Ebeling Group.
"We believe in the cause and were happy to provide support to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Canada," says Doug Turney, President and CEO, MacLaren McCann. "Domestic adoption is an issue that is often overlooked in Canada and, like the Foundation, we believe all children have the right to a permanent home where they can thrive and grow."
