TORONTO, April 27, 2018 /CNW/ - OMNI Television today announced the appointment of David Battistelli as Supervising Producer for OMNI News: Italian Edition, effective today. In this role, Battistelli will oversee all production and editorial of OMNI's Italian newscasts produced out of Montreal and Toronto as well as Focus Portuguese on OMNI.1 in Ontario. Battistelli will report to Manuel Fonseca, Director, OMNI, Lifestyle & Entertainment Production, Rogers Media.

With 35 years of broadcast journalism experience, Battistelli returns to OMNI where he previously served for 20 years as OMNI's Parliamentary News Bureau Chief, covering political and security crises, elections, foreign leader visits, and federal budgets. During this tenure, Battistelli also played an integral role with OMNI News where he interviewed various political figures, including Prime Ministers Stephen Harper and Paul Martin. Prior to joining OMNI in 1995, Battistelli started his career at CHRO Television in Pembroke, ON before moving to CHNO-FM and CJMX-FM in Sudbury, ON, where he held such roles as news and sports reporter, producer, and anchor.
Battistelli joins Charmaine Wong, Nathan Sekhon and Jake Dheer, who collectively oversee news and current affairs programming for OMNI Regional and OMNI Television's local stations in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and Vancouver.

Based in Toronto, Wong manages all in-house productions for OMNI Ontario, including the Cantonese and Mandarin national newscasts. With more than a decade of television production experience, Wong joined OMNI in 2013 and has been instrumental in leading production and news editorial.
From Vancouver, Sekhon oversees OMNI's Punjabi national newscast and our local Cantonese, Mandarin and Punjabi current affairs programs. Sekhon has a wide range of duties as a newsroom leader, which include managing the OMNI Hockey Night in Canada Punjabi broadcasts.
Rounding out the OMNI management team is Jake Dheer, Sr. Manager, Community Liaison & OMNI Ontario Punjabi. Dheer manages vital partnerships with more than 65 multilingual independent producers across the country, who provide OMNI programming in more than 45 different languages.
