Québec Chamber of Commerce awards Davie Vice-President of Human Resources the 'Biggest Heart' award for its commitment to employee welfare and the creation of a positive and work environment.
MONTREAL, June 14, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - The Québec Chamber of Commerce has awarded Melissa Morrison, Davie's Vice-President of Human Resources, the 'biggest heart' award at its annual awards ceremony.
Over the past six years, Davie has introduced a raft of measures and policies which put its employees first. These have resulted in an unprecedented level of co-operation between Davie's union (part of the CSN) and the management.
Alex Vicefield, Chairman of Davie, said "Happy shipbuilders means good ships. People at Davie feel a real sense of purpose and pride and that has contributed to our ability to deliver our programs on time and to budget. Melissa has been hugely instrumental in bringing modern values and a modern management style to an often antiquated industry. Well done Melissa!"
Jared Newcombe, CEO of Davie commented, "Here at Davie, throughout all levels of the organization we are one team working towards one goal. To build the best ships and make sure everyone gets home safely to their families. Shipyards don't build ships, people do. In all my years in this industry, I have never seen such a positive working environment. Melissa and her team truly deserved this award for the time and effort they have put into making Davie a safe and pleasant place to work for everyone."
