Davie Shipbuilding congratulates Minister Qualtrough, underlining the vital role it plays for the Canadian Coast and Royal Canadian Navy Français
LEVIS, QC, Aug. 29, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Davie Shipbuilding - Canada's largest, highest capacity and longest established shipbuilder - today congratulated the Honourable Carla Qualtrough on her appointment as Minister of Public Services and Procurement Canada.
Davie works day-in, day-out and hand-in-hand with Public Services and Procurement Canada to ensure the Royal Canadian Navy and the Canadian Coast Guard have the ships they need, when they need them.
Only last month, Davie unveiled the largest naval vessel to ever be delivered from a Canadian shipyard – the Resolve Class Naval Support Ship. When she enters service this fall, the vessel will be the largest ship to serve with the Royal Canadian Navy.
Over the past five years, Davie has performed five major refits and upgrades to the Canadian Coast Guard's heaviest icebreakers which provide safety of navigation and protect the environment on all three coasts.
The winning combination of our skilled shipbuilders and our unrivalled facility together with the dedication and tireless work of the men and women of Public Services and Procurement Canada has ensured the delivery of all of Davie's governmental projects on time and on budget, creating economic benefit throughout Canada.
Alex Vicefield, Chairman of Davie, commented "We wish Minister Qualtrough the best of luck as she takes on the challenges ahead and we look forward to briefing her on affordable and innovative solutions to meet Canada's pressing needs. We are here and shovel-ready to support the government, the navy and the coast guard as we have successfully demonstrated not by our words, but through our actions."
