Dawna Friesen and Rosey Edeh to Host the 4th Annual Night for Rights Gala
TORONTO, Aug. 25, 2015 /CNW/ - Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) is pleased to announce that Dawna Friesen and Rosey Edeh from Global News will host the Night for Rights Gala on October 1, 2015 at the Arcadian Court in Toronto.
Dawna Friesen, Anchor and Executive Editor for Global National, is an award winning journalist who has extensive experience reporting on international news stories. Prior to joining Global National, Friesen served as NBC's foreign correspondent, reporting on events and conflict in Europe and the Middle East. She covered the Israeli conflict, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and conflict in Pakistan, Russia, Spain and Morocco. Prior to NBC, Friesen worked at CTV as a national correspondent, anchor and back-up host for Canada AM.
Rosey Edeh is the anchor of News at Noon at Global Toronto. She began her journalism career as a sports reporter for CFCF News Montreal before becoming a weather and entertainment reporter for Global Montreal. Since then, she worked on CNN's American Morning and MSNBC's Early Today programs. Edeh is a three-time Olympian and currently holds the Canadian record for the 400m hurdles.
Friesen and Edeh are joining an extraordinary team of supporters to make this year's Night for Rights Gala the best yet. With more than 350 guests to attend, with the goal to raise $160,000, the evening will be a celebration of human rights journalism and free press from around the world. Proceeds from the evening will support JHR's work in Africa, the Middle East and Northern Canada.
