Hydro-Québec salutes the leadership, deep attachment to his community and historic role of the Grand Chief, who worked ceaselessly to protect the rights of Native peoples and ensure their participation in economic and social development.

As a signatory to the 1975 James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and later as president of the Niskamoon Corporation, Dr. Diamond played a huge role in establishing an ongoing open dialogue between Hydro-Québec and the Cree Nation to form harmonious partnerships consistent with his Nation's values and culture.
