New awareness campaign launched by the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada ("CCAC")
MONTREAL, Dec. 1, 2014 /CNW/ - The new website for Decembeard Canada™ is now live!
Decembeard aims to encourage REAL men… and dare we say, REAL women throughout Canada to grow a beard during the month of December to get people talking about colon cancer and raise vital funds for the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada. No worries, REAL women are welcome to imagine what it's like by posting a photo of themselves sporting an artificial or drawn-on beard.
The campaign was established in the UK in 2011 and the CCAC is proud to join our partners in the UK, down under in Australia, as well as our KIWI friends in New Zealand in this crazy campaign to beard up for colon cancer. That's a lot of beard-growing for a great cause!
Colorectal cancer is the second biggest cancer killer for men and women combined in Canada, and yet it is 90% preventable and curable if caught in its early stages. In 2014, 1 in 13 men and 1 in 16 women will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer. This amounts to approximately 24,400 (about 13,500 men and 10,800 women) new cases of colorectal cancer. That's why awareness is so important.
Funds raised will help us to support people with colon cancer, raise awareness of the disease and promote screening in Canada. We hope you all like the new campaign and welcome your feedback.
