December Housing Starts in New Brunswick

A total of 81 multiple starts were recorded in December, which was almost double the total of 41 units recorded during the same month in 2008. Despite the strong showing in December, overall multiple starts were down 14 per cent to 1,259 units in 2009. "The overall, year-over-year decline in both single and multiple starts was not unexpected, as reduced demand throughout the year curbed residential construction activity in some provincial urban centres," continued Gautreau.
