Delta Hotels and Resorts supports Earth Hour through energy-saving service
offerings for guests
All across the country, Delta goes dark!
TORONTO, March 23 /CNW/ - Delta Hotels and Resorts will be shutting off lights at its 45 properties across the country on Saturday March 27, 2010 at 8:30 p.m. (local time) in support of Earth Hour. In addition to going dark, the chain will further demonstrate its commitment to the environment by providing guests with a host of energy-saving service offerings to choose from during their stay that range from creative dining options to family-friendly activities.

In addition to going dark, a number of Delta hotel and resort properties across the country will celebrate Earth Hour by offering a host of energy-saving service offerings and activities for guests to enjoy during their stay including the following:
------------------------------------------------------------------------- BRITISH COLUMBIA ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vancouver Delta Vancouver Suites will offer a special three- course cold dinner menu specifically designed to save on energy. As well, guests who forgo housekeeping for the night will have $5 donated on their behalf to Habitat for Humanity, and will take pride in knowing they helped cut down on water usage and electricity. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kelowna During its candlelit dinner, Delta Grand Okanagan will feature local organic wines for $1 per glass and local sparkling apple juice for kids. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sun Peaks Delta Sun Peaks Resort will feature a special sustainable menu from its "Farm to Fork" program during its candlelit dinner reception. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- PRAIRIES ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Calgary Delta Bow Valley will stand out among Calgary businesses by turning off its branded outdoor "Delta" signage. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edmonton Delta Edmonton South will be hosting a candlelit dinner in the hotel's restaurant, Cocoa's. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kananaskis Delta Kananaskis will organize a bon fire and star gazing night for all ages to enjoy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saskatoon Saskatoon's landmark building, Delta Bessborough, will turn off their signature exterior flood lights. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Regina Delta Regina will be hosting Earth Hour activities in their Omega lounge. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ONTARIO ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Toronto Delta Chelsea, Delta Toronto East, Delta Meadowvale and Delta Toronto Airport West will feature candlelit dinners in their restaurants. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Muskoka Check-in at the Delta Grandview Resort will be done by candlelight followed by a communal, candlelit celebration held in the resort's Owl's Nest Lobby Bar & Lounge. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Markham Delta Markham will be hosting Earth Hour activities for families in their restaurant, Tivoli Garden while handing out glow bracelets for kids. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kitchener-Waterloo Delta Kitchener-Waterloo will be hosting a candlelit evening in their lounge, and will be challenging their employees to work "power-free" for the day. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- London Delta London Armouries will turn off its signature fountain in the lobby. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ottawa Delta Ottawa will be shutting down one of its elevators and hosting a candlelit dinner in their restaurants. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- QUEBEC ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Montreal In an effort to show the importance of nature, Delta Centre-Ville will plant a maple tree in its front lobby. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sherbrooke Delta Sherbrooke will unveil its new lighting system which changed from regular fluorescent to LED energy- efficient lighting, estimated to save 39,420 KW per year. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ATLANTIC CANADA ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fredericton A Cocktails by Candlelight reception will be hosted by Delta Fredericton. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Halifax Delta Barrington and Delta Halifax will be hosting a Cocktails by Candlelight event and will also offer guests complimentary chocolate fondue. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sydney Delta Sydney is will be participating in a local clean-up. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
