TORONTO, Aug. 3 /CNW/ - Astral's Family Channel presents a Night of Premieres on Friday, August 13. An evening of new episodes, special episodes and guest stars, the night culminates with the Canadian premiere of the Disney Channel Original Movie Den Brother at 8 p.m. ET/PT, day and date with the U.S. premiere on Disney Channel. Family OnDemand subscribers can earn their merit badges early as Den Brother becomes available from Friday, August 6.
In Den Brother, 16-year-old hockey star Alex Pearson, played by Zeke and Luther's Hutch Dano, gets suspended from his team after showboating during a game. To his dismay and after a series of unforeseen events, he finds himself filling in as a Bumble Bee Troop leader for his little sister Emily's troop. Alex soon makes the most of the situation, discovering that posing as the troop's elderly den mother from time to time is a small price to pay when he can get Emily and the girls to do his chores and make him snacks in exchange for merit badges. Even more advantageous, Alex has the opportunity to get closer to the beautiful Matisse Burrows, leader of another Bumble Bee Troop. However, when his self-centered antics cost Emily and her friends an opportunity to participate in the long-anticipated Camporee, Alex finally sees how he has affected those he cares about and devises a plan that will get his troop into the camp. Den Brother also stars G. Hannelius (Sonny With A Chance) as Emily Pearson and Kelsey Chow (of the upcoming Disney XD series Pair of Kings) as Matisse Burrows.
Leading to the premiere of Den Brother, new episodes air on Family Channel from 4 p.m. ET/PT with a special hour-long episode of Phineas and Ferb called "The Summer Belongs to You." It is the summer solstice and because it's the longest day of the year, Phineas and his stepbrother Ferb decide to travel around the world in one day. However, not everyone believes they can actually achieve their goal, leading the duo to get some encouraging words, in the form of a duet, from Clay Aiken and Chaka Khan.
At 5 p.m. ET/PT, in an hour long Zeke and Luther, the boys think they've found their dream job as equipment testers for billionaire sports personality, Garm Garoosh. The job soon turns out to be more than they signed-on for when they are asked to test new skateboards by taking part in increasingly dangerous stunts.
In the Wizards of Waverly Place episode called "Wizards vs. Finkles" at 6 p.m. ET/PT, Alex joins Harper's parent's vaudevillian act after deciding they are more fun than her own parents. When she realizes the Finkles are all work and no play, Alex quickly comes up with a plan to get her kicked out of their performances.
Joe has a rough first day on the set of Forever April in a new episode of JONAS L.A. at 6:30 p.m. ET/PT, while, in a fresh episode of Good Luck Charlie at 7 p.m. ET/PT, Teddy brings Charlie to class in an effort to win over her English teacher.
At 7:30 p.m. ET/PT, Robby misses the deadline to register Miley for school in a new episode of Hannah Montana Forever which guest stars Ray Liotta. When Principal Luger makes an exception for Hannah Montana, the problem is solved. However, Miley finds that attending school as Hannah attracts much more attention than she'd like.
