Dermtek Pharma - Celebrating 30 years: a Canadian business pioneer in dermatological history

The Award of Honour was presented to Robert Lavoie, founder and President of Dermtek Pharma last June at the annual Canadian Dermatology Association Conference. Celebrating 30 years – Corporate Milestones

• 1986
  Robert Lavoie, a former sales representative for Westwood-Squibb Pharmaceuticals' and Trans-Canada Dermapeutics, founded Dermtek Pharmaceuticals.
• 1990
  Parsol 1789 and Ombrelle see the day and take their place in the sun, offering a line of broad-spectrum sun protection. Dermtek Pharmaceutical had just written a chapter in the history of Canadian dermatology.
• 1994
  The creation of Ombrelle led to another emergence: the sun damage correction line Reversa was launched to reverse the signs of aging.
• 1997
  In July 1997, the Ombrelle brand is sold to cosmetic multinational L'Oréal
• 2004
  Robert Lavoie is inducted in the Canadian Healthcare Marketing Hall of Fame
• 2006
  Reversa shocks and charms with an acclaimed provocative advertising campaign, Beware of Side Effects, winning 17 international awards, including two coveted Gold Lion Awards in Cannes, France
• 2016
  Dermtek Pharma celebrates 30 years of researching excellence
  June: Robert Lavoie is awarded the Award of Honour at the Canadian Dermatology Association's Annual Conference. This award has only been given twice before in the 91 years of the CDA's existence, which makes it all the more special.
