QUEBEC CITY, Nov. 29, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - DeSerres, the century-old family-run Quebec business specializing in arts and crafts supplies as well as creative toys and games, is celebrating the grand opening of a new store today at 1975 Rue Fleur-de-lys, at the intersection of Boulevard Hamel, in Quebec City. With the simultaneous opening of a new store in Richmond Hill, Ontario, this is DeSerres' 30th outlet in Canada, his 19th in Quebec and its third in the provincial capital itself. The new store, in the image of those recently opened by DeSerres, features a refreshing and innovative design concept, providing a unique shopping experience that inspires creativity. The investment of more than $1.75 million by DeSerres will create about 20 jobs in the local community. The opening of this new store is part of the company's expansion plan, which calls for the creation of a network of some 40 stores within the next few years.
The acquisition of Encadrements Ste-Anne in 2011 enabled DeSerres to strengthen its position in the framing segment in Canada while offering a broader range of products and unparalleled expertise. In the new Quebec City concept, the two banners are side by side on the storefront with connecting spaces inside, so consumers benefit from a larger inventory as well as specialized advice. The presence of DeSerres, a true jewel in Quebec's economic crown, in combination with Encadrements Ste-Anne and its know-how, creates immediate synergy and delivers a more in-depth product and service offering for customers.
The Greater Quebec City region is home to a very dynamic artistic community as well as a sizable pool of consumers interested in creative hobbies and pastimes. This explains DeSerres' move to open a new store there with a more contemporary flair, complementing its product and service range in the Capitale nationale region, which already boasts stores in the Place Ste-Foy and Les Galeries de la Capitale shopping centres. The innovative and inspiring design concept, laid out over 15,000 square feet, including the Encadrements Ste-Anne space, showcases DeSerres' wide range of products. A special celebration for the general public to mark its grand opening will run from today through Sunday, December 2.
"Our in-store experts excel at providing great advice to our customers, and that's one of our great strengths, besides the imposing array of products available, regularly updated in response to new trends as well as needs expressed by our consumers," says Marc DeSerres, President of DeSerres. "We're sure that this new location in the heart of Quebec City will become a new retail destination of choice where parents and children alike will find inspiration for a wide variety of creative projects."
DeSerres caters to a wide range of customers interested in fine arts and graphic arts and has also developed a strong niche for children with a broad selection of creative toys and games, which is the company's fastest-growing sector. Recognized for the expertise of its staff, DeSerres offers a distinctive shopping experience by providing its customers with added-value advice to better guide them through an array of more than 30,000 products.
