TORONTO, April 18, 2013 /CNW/ - The third annual Women in Business Conference opened today at the Pantages Hotel, Toronto, featuring a fantastic collection of women business leaders and cultural icons. The conference features an intimate conversation with Canadian icon Debbie Travis, leader of the largest celebrity brand in Canada, to inspire Canadian women with her stories of challenge and success.
Hosted by the Professional Development Institute, a division of Certified Management Accountants of Ontario, the WIB conference promises to be enlightening, encouraging and thought-provoking as professional business women come together to share and learn from some of Canada's leading women.
Jennifer Keesmaat, the first woman to become Chief Planner for the City of Toronto will begin Thursday's events, commenting on Women in Leadership. The morning will continue with Caroline Spivak, Principal of Profile Communications who will speak on The Audacity of Risk and Kelly Drennan, Founding Executive Director of Fashion Takes Action who will offer insight on Building Your Social Media Brand. Lunch will be hosted by the Food Network's Spice Goddess, Bal Anderson who will touch on her journey coming to Canada 19 years ago and how she took control of her life. The afternoon will feature Sylvie Demers, Chairman, Affinity Market Group, TD Insurance commenting on female leadership along with a discussion on how to Take the Stage with Judith Humphrey, President of The Humphrey Group Inc. The Day will close with words from Debbie Travis.
