GATINEAU, QC, July 31, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Desjardins Group is proud to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival—an event with which it has been associated from the very beginning.
Desjardins Group has been a loyal sponsor of the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival since the very first edition was held in 1988. Over the years, Desjardins's involvement has evolved along with the Festival.
"A winning relationship has developed over the years and we salute the longevity and great success of the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival—a family event that brings people together," said Monique F. Leroux, Chair of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Desjardins Group.
Desjardins has been the title sponsor for all sustainable development activities of the biggest festival in the Outaouais for several years. These activities include free shuttles, secure bicycle parking, green recycling and composting stations and drinking water stations. Desjardins also makes two automated tellers and point-of-sale terminals (credit/debit) available to festival-goers.
Since last year's Minute Verte (green minute) event was such a success, Desjardins is repeating the sustainable development crowd-awareness experience. The event will be held on Sunday, September 2. Thousands of festival-goers will snap their fingers in unison for one minute to show that protecting our planet takes more than just a snap of the fingers—it takes the cooperation of everyone to make small everyday gestures count (www.facebook.com/MinuteVerte).
Everyone is invited to the 25th Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival from August 31 to September 3, 2012. For information, go to www.montgolfieresgatineau.com.
