Desjardins Group, Grand Partner of the Canada Summer Games - Sherbrooke 2013, invites all Canadians to come cheer on our young athletes Français
SHERBROOKE, QC, Aug. 2, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canada Summer Games - Sherbrooke 2013 are set to kick off tonight. The opening ceremony will be hosted by Monique F. Leroux, Chair of the Board, President and CEO, Desjardins Group and President of the Canada Summer Games - Sherbrooke 2013.
"Desjardins Group is proud to be the Grand Partner of the Games. This great event brings together not only young athletes from across the country, but also the generous people who support them as they strive for excellence," said Ms. Leroux.
To add to the festive atmosphere, representatives from Desjardins will be handing out maple products from their booth located outside the Université de Sherbrooke stadium. At Desjardins's main Games site, the Palais des Sports Léopold-Drolet, headbands will be given out to help keep spectators cool during the basketball semi-finals and finals.
Beyond financial support and on-site activities, Desjardins Group has also run a joint campaign with Desjardins caisses to recruit the 5,000 volunteers needed to make the Games possible. From the get-go, officers, managers, employees and their families jumped on board to ensure the Games' success, some of them even participated in the torch relay.
"All of us here have been won over by the spirit of the Games, and we know you will too. Please join us to cheer on today's young Canadian athletes, who are the Olympians of tomorrow," concluded Ms. Leroux.
