MONTREAL, March 14, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The recent mild weather and 83 millimetres of rain this winter may have forced the Snow Village to close its doors early, but nothing can put a damper on what was an incredibly successful first year!
Even though the warm weather this winter forced the promoters to close earlier than expected, it also helped attract over 95,000 people to this magnificent site since its doors first opened on Jan. 6. More than 15,000 of these visitors came solely for the Pommery Ice Restaurant and the comforting cuisine of Chef Eric Gonzalez... undeniably the biggest hit of the winter! What's more, demand for the restaurant was so great that just two weeks into the season, the restaurant had to extend its opening hours to five nights a week (rather than three nights, as originally planned)!
The promoters behind the Snow Village (Carl Fugère, Guy Bélanger and Yanick Tremblay) are so pleased with the enthusiastic response of Montrealers and tourists alike that today they announced that the Village will be back again next winter! For its first year, the creators crafted a stunning ice-and-snow replica of the great City of Montreal; next year, their theme village will pay tribute to an equally awe-inspiring city: New York!
The Snow Village is at once a unique hotel experience, gastronomic adventure and hub of urban, cultural, sports and family entertainment and activities. In addition to its restaurant, the Village boasts a 30-room ice hotel, heated outdoor Nordic spas, a 250-seat bar with terrace, a conference centre that can accommodate groups of up to 200 people and a chapel...
