Despite the recent mild spell - Winter activities and close to a thousand runners registered for the Hypothermic Half Marathon Français
MONTREAL, Feb. 17, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Parc Jean-Drapeau will be open on the weekend and will be providing a range of activities for the entire population, despite the recent mild weather. The weekend gets underway in the morning with the start of a half marathon run.
"On Saturday, February 18, Parc Jean-Drapeau will be the site for the Hypothermic Half Marathon, where close to a thousand runners will be taking part in an extraordinary winter race," remarked Société du parc Jean-Drapeau spokesperson Nathalie Lessard. "People of all ages can attend this free sports event on the Parc's site. The race begins at 8:30 a.m."
Spectators can get active themselves by taking advantage of the free activities going on at the Parc. These activities include an introduction to downhill skiing (for children aged 5 to 8), cross-country ski trails, open snowshoeing, giant foosball and a special program at the Biosphère, Environment Museum. Pay activities will also be offered to everyone: tube sliding, dogsleds, zip-line, and activities at the Stewart Museum. And right beside these activities, visitors will no doubt want to see the wondrous Snow Village. Visitors will also be able to rent cross-country skis, snowshoes and sleds on site.
Parc Jean-Drapeau is situated at the midpoint between downtown Montréal and the South Shore and it's easy to get there by subway (Jean-Drapeau Station). Before setting out for the Parc, the public is invited to visit the Parc's website at parcjeandrapeau.com for the latest updates on the weekend activities.
