Destiny Media Adds Advanced Video Rendering With New Clipstream® Release
VANCOUVER, Feb. 27, 2016 /CNW/ - Destiny Media Technologies (TSXV: DSY) (OTCQX: DSNY) today announced that it has launched the next generation of the player used in the Clipstream® hosting and reporting service. This version contains the first approach in the industry using the graphics processing unit of various devices to enhance the presentation of video within the browser using a browser technology known as WebGL. Uniquely enabled by Clipstream's proprietary JavaScript playback system, the new player is able to access resources unavailable to conventional technologies to upscale and enhance the video, improving the viewer experience. Initially designed for use in 3D rendering and game development, WebGL is a low-level 3D graphics API that gives the Clipstream player access to powerful additional resources for enhancing and presenting video. The new player also includes a number of other fixes and performance enhancements.
"The release of our new player is another important milestone in our ongoing enhancement of our Clipstream® service," said Steve Vestergaard, Chief Executive Officer for Destiny Media Technologies. "The new player leverages techniques only available to us due to the unique implementation of our technology. These techniques give access to critical additional resources to significantly enhance the video quality experienced across a broad set of devices. Development is continuing and we are hopeful we can show further improvements in a couple months when our next sprint is released.."
As a software based solution, protected by two dozen patents, this player, which uses the HTML 5 canvas tag and JavaScript to render the video, is able to offer functionality, including HEVC support and security not available through other solutions.
Clipstream® enables any non-technical user to upload videos that will play on all modern web browsers including those installed on TVs, PCs, and mobile devices. The service automatically converts videos from a range of standard formats to the Clipstream® format. Users then receive a link that can be embedded into a website and/or distributed directly through email.
