DeVry Calgary Earns Accreditation by the Canadian Institute of Marketing
Graduates of Bachelor of Business Administration degree can now receive professional designation
CALGARY, March 10 /CNW/ - The Canadian Institute of Marketing (CIM) has granted the Bachelor of Business Administration degree program at DeVry Institute of Technology in Calgary its professional accreditation, allowing students graduating from the program to receive a professional designation from CIM. DeVry Calgary is the only institution in Alberta to have a bachelor's degree program accredited by the Canadian Institute of Marketing.
Upon graduation, each student is individually assessed for a CIM designation and receives, at minimum, Graduate Member (GCInst.M) status. Students with prior marketing experience may receive Associate (ACInst.M) or even Professional Member (MCInst.M) designation.
"CIM members have the proven skills and experience to deliver successful marketing programs," says Grant Lee, executive director, CIM. "Working with an education provider as forward thinking as DeVry Calgary to deliver a marketing program and to create new members for our profession is very exciting for us." Lee holds MCInst.M and RPM (Registered Professional Marketer) designations.
"This is a great opportunity for our graduates and fantastic recognition of DeVry's business degree," explains Ranil Herath, president of DeVry Calgary. "Because of our quality programming, students now have professional recognition early in their careers and are therefore more attractive to employers."
DeVry's business degree was recently renamed as a Bachelor's of Business Administration with approval from Alberta Advanced Education and Technology, based on a recommendation from the Campus Alberta Quality Council. The program had previously been named Business Operations.
The Bachelor's of Business Administration is a four year degree program with nine areas of emphasis including: business information systems, finance, hospitality management, production management, project management, sales and marketing, security management, small business management and entrepreneurship, and technical communication.
"The new program name reflects common usage by degree-granting institutions and more accurately reflects the program's quality," says Herath. "With the addition of CIM accreditation, DeVry Calgary now offers a very exciting option to those considering a career in marketing."
