Dicom adds final mile capabilities and distribution points in the Western United States
CHICAGO, July 21, 2015 /CNW/ - Dicom Transportation Group, a leader in business-to-business transportation services, has added "final mile" and distribution capabilities in the Western United States through its acquisition of Extra Express.
Extra Express, based in Los Angeles, is an asset-light provider of business-to-business final mile services. In the last 30 years, Extra Express has become one of the largest independent final mile service providers on the West Coast.
Dicom will integrate the services of Extra Express into its existing portfolio of expedited, regional parcel transportation, less-than-truckload (LTL), full-truckload (FTL), cross-border, and final mile network capabilities.
With the acquisition, new and existing Dicom customers will have access to final mile delivery points, as well as strategically located distribution centers, across California, Colorado and Nevada. As a result the acquisition expands the Dicom portfolio of logistics services, as well as the company's geographic reach.
"Extra Express provides Dicom with significant final mile density in California and across the Western United States," said Scott Dobak, Dicom CEO. "Extra Express is an exceptionally well-run business, with a proven ability to service a wide range of industries. We look forward to offering their capabilities, which include state-of-the art tracking and communications technology to both new and existing customers."
