Discount Responds to Albertans Left Stranded by Devastating Floods

CALGARY, July 5, 2013 /CNW/ - In response to the countless residents of Calgary that have found themselves without transportation due to the devastation left behind by severe flooding, Discount Car and Truck Rentals has set-up multiple satellite locations near the most heavily affected areas in order to provide residents with replacement vehicles. Extra vehicles have been brought in from other parts of the province, as well as new vehicles purchased to satisfy the increased needs. "It's at times like this that we are able to stand out and show our commitment to our insurance partners and the community, and that we are always ready to support them and their insureds through any event," said Travis Mosbaugh, Director of Alberta Operations for Discount. Once it was known that a major flood was taking place, Discount immediately stopped taking reservations for out of town tourists coming for the Calgary Stampede, to make sure there were enough cars and trucks available for the affected Calgarians.

Discount was first on the scene with several catastrophe response teams operating in Calgary and is working closely with insurance companies and body shops to ensure that customers who have experienced a total loss or damage to their vehicle are settled into a replacement vehicle as quickly and smoothly as possible.

"We recognize the importance to be mobile at a time like this, and want to ensure that we are accessible in order to help residents get around and continue with their day-to-day lives," said Mosbaugh.
