"The film captures the spirit of human exploration that it is at the core of our DNA," said Maurice Bitran, PhD, CEO and Chief Science Officer, Ontario Science Centre. "The Ontario Science Centre has always been a hub for astrophysics, outer space and space exploration. We are feeding the spirit of the young scientists who are in line to be among the first generations to send humans farther from the Earth than ever before."
Journey To Space celebrates the incredible work of the Shuttle program to pioneer space travel, bring man to the moon and collaborate globally in the creation of the International Space Station (ISS) — a true home and science lab in space like no other. Through visually stunning imagery and digitizations, Journey To Space showcases the future of deep space travel through NASA's Orion program and the exciting plans already underway to get humankind to Mars and beyond.
"No longer science fiction, a human mission to Mars is in the planning stages, and major steps are being taken to make it a reality within a generation," said Bob Kresser, CEO of K2 Films, the producers behind the film. "Our goal in making this film was to tie together the actual hardware being built with the tremendous planning under way that will make the next steps in space exploration the most far-reaching in our history."
The Science Centre offers robust programming for outer space education, including regular star parties, solar observing events, daily planetarium shows and two space science education simulations in Canada's only Challenger Learning Centre for space science education.
Journey To Space is rated G and has a run time of 40 minutes. Tickets are $9. To watch the trailer and to purchase tickets, please visit OntarioScienceCentre.ca.
