Discovery Air Defence Completes Successful Deployment in Support of Royal Canadian Navy and the Florida Air National Guard
MONTREAL, March 22, 2016 /CNW/ - Discovery Air Defence Services Inc. ("DA Defence"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Discovery Air Inc., recently deployed its Dornier Alpha Jets and Westwind Special Mission Aircraft with the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and the Florida Air National Guard to Exercise Eagle Claw 2016 off the coast of Florida.
DA Defence Alpha Jets and Westwind aircraft executed anti-shipping warfare training, electronic support measure (ESM) training and surface-to-air gunnery training against HMCS ATHABASKAN and CHARLOTTETOWN, as well as the Spanish replenishment ship SPS PATIŇO. Directed by Canadian maritime flight controllers onboard USS FARRAGUT, DA Defence aircraft replicated various threats against the task group.
"Participation in the Task Group Exercise demonstrates our ability to provide the most relevant training and combat support to the Royal Canadian Navy and to all other elements," said Paul Bouchard, President of DA Defence. "The missions flown by our aircrew allowed the Royal Canadian Navy and the Florida Air National Guard to test their readiness, to gain vital operational experience and to maintain the highest levels of combat readiness."
DA Defence's Alpha Jets and Westwind fleet returned to their respective bases in Canada at the end of the exercise. DA Defence and its U.S. subsidiary, Top Aces, have the world's largest privately-held, operating fleet of combat aircraft. The training provided supports the operational readiness of both current and future generation fighter aircraft.
